Post about that movie about dreams

04 Aug

Okay first of all am one of those people who were totally blown away by Inception. I mean yes agar baal ki khaal nikalni ho then you can say its a heist movie in a very different setting. But heist movies dont require you to think, they dont become conversation pieces, and they are not open to interpretation. Inception is all of this.

No need to flog a dead horse and tell everyone the premise is planting an idea in a person’s subconscious. What I will do is give my interpretation to few questions which had me stumped. If you have another view do share.

So here we go ******SPOILER ALERT*******(actually knowing the end can in no way spoil this movie still)

(1) The whole totem concept. Cobb uses his wife’s totem. This means his subconscious already knows the correct way to work it, could it be he dreamt it falling off earlier in the movie?

(2)The falling van has an impact on Arthur’s dream as people start floating but why zero impact in the next level (I think Tom Hardy’ s dream). You can see that Saito’s feels lesser and lesser pain moving up levels-does the gravity effect also work in that fashion?

(3)Why is Limbo such a threat? I mean if all it takes to come out is killing self( like Mal and Cobb earlier, Adriene and Fischer later) then why would anyone’s brain scramble?

(4)The ending. Admit it was perfect and totally open to interpretation. When I left the hall I felt it was a dream beacuse the children wear the same clothes and are in the same position as his dreams. But Imdb credits older children playing that scene and apparently there are minute costume changes also.

So in case you havent watched it yet-do it 🙂

Isn’t it just simply mindblowing? Well, about your questions/ interpretations, I can attempt one:

    (3) Limbo’s a threat because once there, you are neither fully awake nor sleeping. Under the sedative, killing would provide you the “kick” to wake up, but the sedative would force you to stay asleep.. so Limbo is where the conscious and the sub-conscious meet, and the dreamer has no control whatsoever.

Oh yes, you summed up Inception really well. The ending was so perfect! I didn’t realize that they were wearing the same clothes and were in the same position… I thought that was some kind of symbolism or something.

Maybe because the threat of LImbo is that one gets so satisfied living there, one doesn’t want to leave, hence the brain scrambling?

Anyway, I really do want to watch it again.
